Ataturk Park Residents Facing Eviction Over Land Dispute, Parliament Steps In

in News / Kyrgyzstan - by

Emil Toktoshev, a deputy, announced at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh that residents of two multi-storey buildings on Maldybaeva Street, located in Ataturk Park, had approached him. According to him, there are 250 apartments in the two buildings. The Bishkek City Hall demanded that the residents vacate the park area.

"These lands were resold. The residents of the buildings are not to blame. About a thousand people live there. Will they all be left on the street? I cannot say anything about mansions, but ordinary people live in these two buildings. Among them are disabled people, pensioners, and civil servants," said Emil Toktoshev.

He asked the Speaker of the Parliament, Nurlanbek Shakiev, to personally oversee the case. Shakiev responded to the deputy, stating that he had contacted the mayor, Aibek Junushaliev, regarding this matter.

"The mayor is currently on a business trip to Moscow. When he returns, he will provide us with full information. That's when we will investigate," replied Nurlanbek Shakiev.
