in News / Kyrgyzstan - by

Keneshbek Duishbaev was released under house arrest with a travel ban by the Pervomaisky District Court. This information was reported by the lawyer Erkin Sadanbekov.

Earlier, Duishbaev's lawyer, Akyn Avazbekov, had appealed to the court to change the preventive measure for his client due to his health condition. During one of the recent hearings, Keneshbek Duishbaev felt unwell and was carried out of the courtroom on a stretcher.

On October 22, 2022, a support committee for the Kempir-Abad reservoir was established. It included activists, politicians, and parliament deputies. Mass arrests began on October 23, with 27 individuals being detained on charges of preparing for mass unrest. Currently, eight people remain in custody.

Several international human rights organizations, such as the International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR), the World Organization Against Torture (OMCT), the Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC), the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (HFHR), "Freedom Now," and others, have repeatedly called for the release of detained politicians and activists in Kyrgyzstan.
