Osh State University Opens Cardiovascular Surgery Department

in News / Kyrgyzstan - by

The medical clinic of Osh State University has recently inaugurated a new cardiovascular surgery department, as announced by the Ministry of Education and Science. This initiative comes as part of a broader effort to enhance the autonomy and capabilities of higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan.

The President has granted five universities the authority to make decisions autonomously, transforming them into fourth-generation educational institutions. Students are not only acquiring knowledge and skills but also applying them in practical settings, effectively monetizing their expertise. The boundaries between science and education are becoming increasingly blurred, with Osh State University emerging as a leader in sharing best practices.

The cardiovascular surgery department was opened ahead of the university's 85th anniversary and is equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities. Notably, the clinic recently conducted its first open-heart surgery without stopping the patient's heart.

In July 2022, the head of state signed a decree aimed at enhancing the potential and competitiveness of higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan. This decree granted special status to five state universities, providing them with financial, organizational, and academic autonomy to foster innovation and excellence in education and research.
