In Tashkent, the Department of Digital Development (DDD) in conjunction with the domestic group of scientists Amudario has launched the Air Tashkent platform for monitoring the capital's air quality.
The platform collects data from 10 locally manufactured OXUS-WS stations owned by the DDD. The sensors gather data on various pollutants, temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, ultraviolet radiation, wind speed and direction, precipitation, and carbon dioxide levels.
The locations of the stations were chosen in collaboration with experts from Uzhydromet and the Tashkent Ecology Department, considering factors like wind patterns and the absence of major pollutants in the vicinity to ensure the objectivity of the Air Quality Index (AQI).
The data from the stations is updated hourly on the portal, allowing users to track air quality statistics over the past seven days. Additionally, the platform integrates information on heat plants burning fuel like oil and coal, as well as registered fires impacting air quality.
Air Tashkent is accessible on all platforms and devices, offering a user-friendly interface. The platform also provides recommendations for sensitive groups based on pollution levels and weather forecasts from Yandex.
Researchers and activists can download the data in various formats from the Tashkent Open Data Portal. The DDD plans to expand the network by installing 30 more stations to enhance air quality monitoring and provide a solid foundation for further research and analysis.
