The Ministry of Internal Affairs has denied reports of the death of the bus driver involved in the accident with schoolchildren in the Kagan district of the Bukhara region on March 18. The General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan announced the initiation of a separate criminal case for the negligence of officials.
As reported by "Gazeta.uz", two schoolchildren and the bus driver tragically lost their lives in the accident. The bus was carrying 27 boys to the regional theater, with girls following in another bus. The collision occurred at an intersection with a presumably malfunctioning traffic light, where a concrete mixer truck crashed into the bus. According to traffic regulations, if the traffic light was not working, the bus driver should have yielded.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Bukhara region found that certain officials had grossly violated the rules of organizing the transportation of children by buses and their supervision. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 207 (official negligence) of the Criminal Code.
In connection with the accident, the investigative body of the Bukhara region initiated a criminal case under Article 266 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety rules) and an investigation has begun. The General Prosecutor's Office stated that the investigative actions will be comprehensive, thorough, and objective, and the legal decision will be made based on the results.
