Uzbekistan President Expresses Solidarity with Kazakhstan Amid Floods

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a phone call with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on April 23. Mirziyoyev expressed condolences and support to the leader and people of Kazakhstan in light of the human casualties due to massive floods in the country.

He emphasized that such natural disasters are consequences of negative climate changes in the region. The two leaders agreed to continue close cooperation in addressing these challenges.

Tokayev thanked Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan for their solidarity and assistance following the floods in several regions of Kazakhstan. Earlier, Uzbekistan sent 15 trucks with 100 tons of humanitarian aid worth 10 billion soums to the affected areas.

The presidents discussed expanding Uzbek-Kazakh neighborly relations, strategic partnership, and alliance in line with the agreements reached during their recent meeting in Khiva. They also reviewed regional agenda items and upcoming high-level events.
