More than 11 settlements in the West Kazakhstan region are at risk of flooding due to the rising water level in the Zhaiyk River. The Ministry of Emergency Situations press service announced this on April 20th.
In response, the Minister of Emergency Situations, Chingis Arinov, who has been in the region for the second day, is visiting each village and personally inspecting the condition of the embankments. During the day, the head of the department visited villages such as Burlin, Yanvartsevo, Rubezhinskoye, Ozernoye, Volodarskoye, Baykonyss, Zhaiyk, and others.
It is noted that over 100 kilometers of protective earthen embankments have been constructed in the region since the beginning of the flood period. Earlier, on April 20th, the state meteorological service "Kazhydromet" presented the final hydrological forecast for the flood period of 2024.
