A grand event celebrating the opening of the Tedjen-Mary section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway took place in Turkmenistan with President Serdar Berdymukhamedov in attendance. The project was overseen by Türkmen Awtoban and executed by Altyn nesil.
The six-lane highway features additional lanes for emergencies, drainage ditches, and metal guardrails. The pavement is made of durable asphalt concrete, synthetic fabrics, mesh, and other modern materials. The road infrastructure includes parking lots, rest areas, shops, cafes, and gas stations. Road supervision is carried out through video surveillance cameras and weather stations.
The next section will extend from Mary to Turkmenabat, making the total length of the highway from Ashgabat to Turkmenabat 600 kilometers.
