Rustam Valiev, an expert, manager, and guide of the Turkmen tourist company Suwara, shared insights on the increase in tourist flow to Turkmenistan after the pandemic. This information was reported by the online publication "TurkmenPortal."
According to the expert, before 2020, the annual influx of tourists to Turkmenistan was increasing by 15-20%. However, in 2023 and 2024, the growth in the tourist flow has surged to 35-40%.
Rustam Valiev highlighted the launch of a premium-class tourist train for foreign guests, offering them the opportunity to explore the beauty of the entire country in a short period. Turkmenistan has introduced a "soft" border crossing for its guests, where all customs and immigration procedures are conducted without queues upon entry into the country. The three-day excursion includes visits to the monuments of Ancient Merv, introduction to the peculiarities of national crafts, playing traditional instruments like the dutar and gijak. Tourists can look forward to exploring the Eastern bazaar, getting acquainted with the culinary traditions of Turkmen cuisine, and an exciting tour of the attractions of Ashgabat.
